Speaking Chinese in Yokohama

Yokohama is noted for its Chinatown. Getting there is easy as it's only a 25 minute train ride from Tokyo Central.

We decided to have Chinese for dinner and picked a small restaurant that had every known Chinese New Year decoration possible on display.

Thinking it would be easy to order in Chinese, we switch languages and the owner was from China. The strange thing was she kept mixing Japanese and Chinese together and kept asking us things in Japanese. Clearly she wasn't used to doing this with people as the small restaurant was all Japanese diners. I probably confused her more being Caucasian and speaking Chinese in a Chinese restaurant in Yokohama, Japan!

Finally I loved the six easy steps in Japanese to eating Peking duck. An interesting cultural mix. Actually this place and the food reminded me of Chinese restaurants in Australia.
