The best thing about having a visitor come to Singapore is that is makes you search out new places to eat. Singapore certainly is spoilt for food choices. With so many different ethnic backgrounds on the island state plus western and international cuisines, you can spend a few dollars or a few hundred.
Along side the Esplanade Theatre is a stretch of stalls called Makansutra that aim to provide a sample of classic Singapore dishes. Whether you are downtown or have just taken in a show, this outdoor food court is a great spot to savor some of Singapore's more traditional well known dishes. The quality is said to be very good but you can always try any hawker centre in Singapore which serve Malay, Chinese or Indian dishes. Of course quality varies but I must say Makansutra is quite good.
We went for Prata with egg, lamb satay with sauce with teh tarik followed by cendol. This was washed down with a refreshing starfruit and carrot juice with ice. Perfect for a warm Saturday afternoon.
